Gwledd Conwy Feast is a not for profit Community Interest Company run by a small dedicated team of local people.
Jane Hughes is the event’s director whose passion, enthusiasm and creativity gets the event on the road every year.
Exhibitor liaison officer Louise Edwards fits everything together and keeps the wheels on the festival once it’s on the road.
Fiona Trappe handles business development and marketing and keeps us all focused.
Roger Hughes conjures the fabulous entertainment programme to make the event really swing.
Jill Tunstall is responsible for publicity and making sure you all get to hear about it.
Of course, we all do much more than that, but you get the picture…
We are supported by a fantastic team of volunteers including Jackie Wynne Freer who looks after the Tree, Birds and Bees project, Conwy shop owner Helen Bundy is our representative among local traders and Gwynedd Watkin from FUW coordinates our Farming For Food Marquee.
Equally importantly, Conwy’s community, local business people and councillors have been involved right from the very start. So, we were delighted, but not surprised, to be named Best Community Event in Wales in 2007 by Visit Wales and Best Community Event in Conwy in Conwy Borough Council’s 2010 awards.
The first Feast was held in 2004. In those days we had two venues – the Civic Hall and one small tent on the bandstand.
Nowadays things are a bit bigger than that!
With 25,000 visitors over the weekend and venues including Conwy Castle and the entire quayside we’re still pressed for space.
We have a constantly changing programme full of lively ideas and we aim to continue to be the best community event in Wales.
Oh, and the best food festival in the UK!
